How to get a job?
Either you are searching for a very first job in your life (or) switching careers (or) wishes to re entering in to the job market after a long absence.
There are two main tasks in finding a job
(1.) understanding yourself.
(2.) Understanding the job market.
Assuming that you have already chosen a career and at current position search for a job. Here are several ways to find and get a job.
Most of the best companies all around the world including Indian companies acquire 40 % of the employees, through a referral who is already employed at their concern.
First of all you have to list out your friends, relatives, neighbors, known peoples etc and make a cold call and ask them whether there are any job openings in their concern, so that they can make a recommendation. It is not required to be too humble or apologize like that, you have to tell them what job career you have chosen and what are the job positions you are looking for, make them to understand that you are flexible, at the same time you have to hear their suggestions
It is not possible to get a job for you in the first call itself. You have to make a periodic approach so that you can keep in touch with them, so that when ever a job opening occur he / she will connect you with his company. As such you can get a job. Soon after a few years of experience and reputation you can either negotiate for a higher pay or ask for switching to higher grade jobs.
There is another method just collect addresses of various companies related to the career you have chosen and prepare a resume with covering letter and post them. Whenever they have a job requirement in respective field they will either call you for a direct interview or a phone call at first.
Resume.
You have to show your self very professional or even a glimpse. Make several rough copies of your resume and then finalize for a fair copy. Compare with several resume models and try your best to update your resume. Give all details required in you resume, don’t provide with unnecessary details which are not at all related to their business.
Covering Letter
Never forget to add a covering letter to your resume. The covering letter is to be addressed to the respective officer who deals with your employment. If the concern is a smaller one then the proprietor will be the only person to provide you with a job. But in case of a large concern there will be a separate department for recruitment. Now a day most of the large concerns have their own website. They have made a separate page for employment and current job vacancies in their concern either at their office premises, factory or at their erection sites.
